As you know, COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on Australia’s volunteers. In some charity organisations, most, if not all, volunteers are over 65. As a result, they’re now unable to continue with their usual work, simply because they’re in a very high risk group themselves.
And naturally that’s a very tight spot to be in.
You’re not alone
#PlayForLives is with you. We’re actively - and very publicly - getting Australia’s sporting organisations and athletes mobilised. Led by former Socceroo Craig Foster, we’re successfully encouraging our country’s professional athletes to get off the sidelines and into the thousands of volunteer positions left vacant in the wake of the pandemic.They can’t compete or train for the rest of the season, so they probably have a bit more spare time on their hands than most people. Plus they’re obviously very capable, physically. So they make the perfect volunteers!
There’s more to your work than volunteers
Obviously there’s more to volunteer work than a bunch of willing hands on deck. Vetting, organising, tracking and keeping your volunteers safe is every bit as important. Perhaps more so. And that’s what makes #PlayForLives so effective. We have partnered with Be Collective who have developed a platform to mobilise and manage our collective goodwill.You need technology too
The Be Collective platform is the technological engine of the #PlayForLives campaign. It has been adapted to the unique circumstances imposed by COVID-19, and it will help you find volunteers, run events, manage people and engage new audiences.All for free, of course.
